Dark rom coms you never knew you needed in your life

I've only recently discovered that dark rom coms (i.e.: romances that combine some dark elements and morally grey characters with lower stakes, hilarious comedy) are a thing. I feel like y'all have been keeping secrets from me because WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL MY LIFE??? Regular dark romance is often a little intense for me, but I'm quickly realizing that dark rom coms are totally my jam. Here are some I've recently read and adored: 

Morelli Family series

A woman mob boss and her unhinged, brutal sister in the role of enforcer, and the men who adore them. So badass, so hilarious, so totally unique. Loved every word.

Yes, they're criminals. Yes, they're sometimes unhinged and a little wack-a-doo. Adorable and endearing and hilarious? Also yes. Can't wait for what might be coming next in this series!

Ruinous Love Trilogy

This series was my introduction to the beautiful world of dark rom coms, and Butcher & Blackbird will remain high on my list of the greatest romances I've ever read because it was SO wildly innovative. It turned my TBR list upside down in the best way possible. I've recommended it more times than I can count and will happily continue to do so until everyone has read it.

A hired assassin steps into the role of protector for his best friend's sister. Hilarity ensues. This one is tons of fun, and it's available in Kindle Unlimited (if you're into that kind of thing).

An explosives expert finds out her hot new neighbor is a hitman. He kidnaps her after she witnesses a murder. Sizzling hot chemistry ensues.
