I always see the same authors on just about every paranormal romance list on the interwebs. And while I ADORE Christine Feehan, Ilona Andrews, Darynda Jones, Jeaniene Frost, Kresley Cole, JR Ward, and Nalini Singh, there are other ah-may-zing paranormal romances out there. Here are a few of my all-time favorites:
The Harper Hall Investigations Series by Isabel Jordan
Comedy, action, suspense, snark, sexy times, more snark...this series has it all. Fans of Darynda Jones and Jeaniene Frost will particularly like this one, I think. You can start with Semi-Charmed, or, if you're into a bargain, the first 5 books in the series are available as a box set:
And HUGE bonus, this series has a new book that just released TODAY, and I highly recommend it:
The Southern Sanctuary series by Jane Cousins
Laughs, strong heroines, and sweet alpha heroes galore. Highly recommend. And it's a 13 book series, so if binge-reading is your thing, get ready to settle in with PLENTY of reading material. You can start with To Woo a Warrior.
The Deathless Night series by L.E. Wilson
This one tends to get a little darker than the other two on the list, but still manages to have some funny/light moments here and there. I'd say this one is more for the JR Ward fans in the reading audience. You can start with A Vampire Bewitched, or, if you're into bargains, there's a box set of the first 3 books:
The Nightshade series, and the Living in Eden series by Michelle Rowen
I think everyone has heard of the Immortality Bites series by Michelle Rowen, which is fabulous. BUT, I don't see too much love out there in list land for the Nightshade series, or the Living In Eden series! Nightshade features a fabulously grumpy, closed-off alpha hero (Declan is yummy), and the Living In Eden series features a sexy, anti-hero in the form of a demon learning how to be human somewhat against his will. Can't recommend either series highly enough. Nightshade is a darker read than Eden, if you're into that kind of thing.
The Immortal Guardians Series by Dianne Duvall
I frankly don't understand why this series isn't on every list out there. It's beyond fabulous. Sexy-but-sweet alpha heroes, strong heroines, lots of emotional moments, non-stop action...it's everything. Start with Darkness Dawns. You won't be sorry.
The Seven series by Dannika Dark
Sexy shifters, tons of action, and a few laughs here and there (although this one is mostly on the action-y/suspense side of PNR, not so much a laugh-riot like some of the others on the list). Start with Seven Years.
The Hot Damned Series by Robyn Peterman
Prepare to laugh until you hurt yourself. Or pee. Seriously. I'm not even joking about that.
The Elemental Mages series by Rose O'Brien
If you like strong heroines like Cat Crawfield and Elena Deveraux, you'll LOVE this series.
The Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson
I mean, this is a pretty popular series, so you're probably already familiar with it, but the fact that it's not on EVERY list of great PNR series still baffles me, so I'm taking this opportunity to recommend it. Again.
