Every time someone posts a kickass romance heroines list, you see the usual suspects. And there's nothing wrong with these physically strong, smart, tough heroines that grace the lists over and over again. But what about the heroines who are not exactly physically strong, but kickass nonetheless? And what about strong, smart, kickass heroines you can find in Kindle Unlimited? Well, THIS is the list for everyone who, like me, has stopped to ask those questions:
NOTE: Books go in and out of Kindle Unlimited all the time. So, if you see something you like, download fast. You never know when it's going to disappear...
Angel Smith
Why she's a kickass heroine: She's a cook who evades an attempt on her life, then escapes into the wilds of Antarctica with a hot guy and lives to tell the tale. She undertakes a grueling journey in extreme circumstances, with no training, and she doesn't even complain about it--she just does what she has to do to survive. Angel is the epitome of a kickass heroine, and if anyone doubts me...well, you can go elsewhere, because I won't have anyone disparaging Angel. Not on my watch.
Serena Abandonato
Why she's a kickass heroine: Mafia romance is littered with badass heroes with questionable morals and mafia princesses who are way sweeter than you'd ever expect from someone raised in that kind of lifestyle. But that's NOT Serena. She can hold her own against any mafia boss out there. She's smart, calculating, and ready to do whatever needs to be done for her family. The story won't be for everyone. It's gritty and dark and angsty. But no one can deny that Serena Abandato is kickass.
Greer Glenanne
Why she's a kickass heroine: She's a grumpy, 46-year-old superhero who can fly and bench-press a Buick. She's also a take-no-shit kind of gal who gets her happily ever after with a hot-as-Hades Irishman who is 10 years younger than her. She's an inspiration to us all, I tell you. And even if you're not normally into superhero stories, don't pass on this one. It's more of a rom com than anything, and for a superhero, Greer is oddly relatable. You'll love her. You just have to trust me on this one.
Holly Daniels
Why she's a kickass heroine: She fights to survive the unthinkable and WINS in every way possible. She reclaims her life, finds love with an AWESOME hero, and learns to overcome fears that could've crippled a lesser woman. She's a survivor of the highest order, and at the end of the day, there's just nothing more kickass than that.
Alayna Blackwell
Why she's a kickass heroine: She commands a team of supernatural folks and works to keep her city safe. If that's not a kickass heroine, I just don't know who is.
Gia Angelo
Why she's a kickass heroine: Not only does she escape an abusive relationship (with a dangerous criminal, no less), but she escapes with his money, too. THEN, as if that wasn't kickass enough, she survives a plane crash and ends up with a hot, virgin mountain man. (Bet I have your attention now, huh?) But most of all, Gia is a woman who goes after what she wants, and in this case, with this hot virgin mountain man, she GETS IT. (Ahem)
Milly Potter
Why she's a kickass heroine: They call her The Baseball Whisperer, and she can fix just about any problem any player is having. How freakin' kickass is THAT?
Astrid, "the chosen one"
Why she's a kickass heroine: Yes, she's a vampyre. Yes, she's "the chosen one". But Astrid's REAL superpower, the one that'll keep you highly entertained through the entire series, is her snark. You'll have to trust me on this one.
Joey "Fireball" Diamonte
Why she's a kickass heroine: She's a feisty, take-no-shit kind of gal, AND she's a pilot. What more could you want?
Harper Hall
Why she's a kickass heroine: The Harper Hall Investigations series is full of kickass heroines, but Harper still manages to be the kickass-est of all. She's tough, smart, competent, and SO SNARKY and irreverent. Fans of Darynda Jones, Robyn Peterman, and MaryJanice Davidson will probably love Harper as much as I do.
