There are some undeniably cool chicks in romance novels. So much, in fact, that I wish I could hang out with some of them in real life. With that in mind, here are just a few of my favorite romance novel heroines I'd want as friends in the real world:
Greer, Caped and Dangerous by Isabel Jordan
Why she'd be an awesome friend: Like me, she's grumpy, tired, and 46 years old. Also like me, she's a fan of Supernatural, The Great British Bake Off, and Adam Driver. We'd have an ENDLESS list of things to talk about. Plus, she can fly and bench press a Buick, so there's THAT...
Bernadette, Come Back to Bed by Kayley Loring
Why she'd be an awesome friend: Every grump like me occasionally needs a sunshine-y person to remind them that not everything is awful. Bernadette would be awesome in that capacity. Plus, she loves dogs as much as I do, so that's important, too.
Skylar, Some Sort of Happy by Melanie Harlow
Why she'd be an awesome friend: She's fun, impulsive, and caring. Skylar is definitely the kind of friend who'd help you hide the body of your cheating ex. And at the end of the day, is there any greater measure of true friendship than that?
Charley, First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
Why she'd be an awesome friend: I mean, who WOULDN'T want to be friends with a wicked-cool, super- snarky grim reaper? The stories she could tell! Constant entertainment.
April, The Real Deal by Lauren Blakely
Why she'd be an awesome friend: I like having friends who are open to wacky schemes and hijinks--and April hired a guy to play the part of her boyfriend at a family event just to keep the nosy relatives off her back. Schemes just don't get any wackier than that. April is definitely my kind of friend.
Nell, Fast Women by Jennifer Crusie
Why she'd be an awesome friend: Nell kidnapped a dog because she thought the owner was being mean to it. Nell's my hero and everything I wish I could be. (*que Wind Beneath My Wings medley*)
But those are just MY top 6 picks. Who are yours? Let's discuss in the comments!
