A New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Alessandra Torre has written thirteen novels, three of which have become New York Times bestsellers.
Her first book, Blindfolded Innocence, was a breakout hit, rising to the top of the ebook charts on Amazon where it attracted the interest of major publishing houses and garnered Torre her first print deal with Harlequin HQN. Less than twelve months later, Torre signed a second print deal, this time with Redhook (Hachette) for the Deanna Madden series, an erotic suspense trilogy. From her home on the Emerald Coast in Florida, she devotes several hours each day to various writing projects and interacting with her fans on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Happily married and with one son, she loves watching SEC football games, horseback riding, reading and watching movies. To stay informed, consider subscribing to Torre's popular monthly newsletter.
At Romance Rehab, we’re all about debunking romance myths and shutting down critics of the genre. As an author of steamy, emotional romance, in your opinion, what are some of the biggest misconceptions about the romance genre as a whole?
I think that romances are wrongly judged for being fluffy and using a template - like every romance book is the same. I think that's such a weak stereotype for a genre that is full of such varied and interesting reads. What’s the best line from a book, movie or TV show that you wish you wrote? It's hard for me to think of the best line ever. But recently I read a line that really stuck out in my mind. It was from a book called Anxiety by Rhett Reese - not a romance novel - and the line read "My father was a wiry, cerebral type with the common sense of a cow in a barn fire." I just love the visual that line creates.
It takes time, and a lot of effort. I hit the New York Times list with my seventh book. It didn't happen overnight. It took me producing consistent, quality books and slowly growing my reader base. Focus on one book at a time, and writing the best book that you can.
The zombie apocalypse has hit (as we all knew it would one day). Which TV or movie characters do you want as part of your crew? (no superheroes…that’s cheating) I'd like Dwayne Johnson's character from Fast & Furious. And MacGyver. And Stewie from Family Guy. :)
