What Celia says:
This book is the first part of a duet, and I'm waiting [im]patiently for the second installment, but it'll be here soon, thank heavens. I enjoyed this book because of its depth, more or less. I love, love, LOVE Skye's use of the Medusa legend throughout. The feministy undertone tickles my pickle. Also, the love story is hot. Especially because ... bear with me here ... it's a TRIANGLE. I know lots of readers hate love triangles, but that's because they don't stare at the triangle and watch it shrink in on itself until all the corners are touching and a THREESOME is created. That's the sweet spot, friends. And, without spoiling, this book's triangle experiences the [good] shrinkage. Oh, and it's the tale of rich girl lost, more or less, but it's not cliche. And she's an artist, goddammit! Loved it, need the next book yesterday.

What Celia says: This is a completed duet. What I liked about this set is the magical realism that's woven so seamlessly into the tale. It's like a little sprinkle of that ridiculously expensive salt that I saw at Whole Foods that time, and didn't buy, but still fantasized about. I bet it tastes just like Jewel's use of faintly fantasy elements of souls traveling through more than one life. Wait, where was I? Yes, these books, I enjoyed them. They have a murder mystery, a scary guy, a HOT motorcycle guy, and older guy you want to call Daddy, and a gal who's torn between two lifetimes. Definitely gives you the angst, if that's what you're into, and keeps you reading to find out (a) what the hell is going on and (b) oooohhhhhh, when the motorcycle guy gonna get naked again?! Also, well written and well paced, for my tastes.

What Celia says: I listened to the audiobook, and you should, too. The narrator is fabulous with his voice acting on it. The story is sort of, idk, what you expect from King. Monster tale, got some "It" echoes. But I particularly enjoyed the last half of the book (the first half is more police procedural and trying to figure out wtf is going on). Dark and creepy, my faves.

What Celia says: Damn, this is a helluva good book. Dark, scary, it's got a GHOST, y'all! And it has worse than that, once you follow the threads and figure out what's going on. Set in a creepy boarding school and starring the misfit girls of your youth (Maybe you were one of them. Me too. It's okay.), it's well written, got that good sort of depth that leaves you sitting there thinking about it, and has enough danger to keep you turning pages. Highly recommended.

What Celia says: It's true crime that happened forever ago and is still interesting. Don't read it for the prose, folks. Harold's writing is super dry. But it's a fascinating story that plumbs the depth of human depravity. A short read; it's worth a look.

And while you’re 1-clicking, here are a few of our all-time favorite Celia Aaron reads:
