Because you are the reigning queen of paranormal romance (as dubbed by J.R. Ward), we think your Carpathians series should be required reading for anyone hoping to write a successful PNR series. What other authors do you think aspiring PNR writers should read immediately and why?
Nalini Singh because she does it so well. Of course, JR Ward!!!! Jayne Ann Krentz’s Gift of Gold and Gift of Fire started my obsession with paranormal romance.
As an author of scorching-hot romance, in your opinion, what are some of the biggest misconceptions about the romance genre?
People still think they are like the books in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. They don’t realize the amount of research required. I also don’t think every book needs to be a literary masterpiece, they can just be entertainment. If you could borrow any character from a book, movie or TV show and put him/her in one of your stories, who would it be and why? My favorite character of all time is Sherlock Holmes. I love his brilliant mind and his character. It would be fun to work him into a paranormal story. The zombie apocalypse has hit (as we all knew it would one day). Which TV or movie characters do you want as part of your crew? (no superheroes…that’s cheating) I’ll take Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character Dutch from Predator because if he can take out those aliens he can take out zombies. I’ll add Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley from Alien because she is badass. Vin Diesel’s character Riddick from Pitch Black because nothing gets by him and Dwayne Johnson so I could stand behind him… LOL!
