So, this is a series starter. It has all the backstory you’ll need about the “world”. And Kohl, our hero, is a super-sexy half dragon and half vampire. (Pretty cool, right? I thought so.) And anytime a dragon can be added to a story, I say the author should go for it. Amirite?
Devon, the heroine, is pretty awesome, too. I love that she’s a tech nerd, who also just happens to be a beautiful person of color. And y’all know how much I love diversity in romance.
I can’t really say too much about the plot without giving away too much, so I’ll just leave it at this: it’s original. No surprise there. All the mechanics (you know, the boring stuff) of the writing are good, too. No glaring errors, no giant plot holes, no weird dialogue, no glacial pacing. Grammar Nazis can read this one with confidence. So, long-story-short this is a fun series starter that is a nice balance of sex, action, and original world-building. 2 thumbs up!
Does this book contribute to or help crush the romance stigma?
