As you know, I cut WAY back on doing book reviews. The why of it was a long story, but just because I'm not actively reviewing lots of books, doesn't mean I'm not finding great books. With that in mind, here are some awesome romance reads I've discovered lately that you should consider picking up for #FridayReads/#WeekendReads. Enjoy:
Break Up with Him, for Me by Whitney G
Why you should read it: This woman can deliver on sexy heroes who SEEM like cocky jerks, but are actually all warm and gooey on the inside (if only or their heroine). This is a super hot, fun, best friend's little sister romance with some laughs and plenty of emotion. And check out this author's backlist while you're at it. She's awesome.
You Ruined Me by Isabel Jordan
Why you should read it: I actually DID get around to reviewing this one not too long ago, but it was so awesome that I wanted to reiterate my thoughts. This is a hilarious read, full of snarky banter, nerdy pop culture references, and some of my favorite secondary characters of ALL TIME. Can't recommend highly enough. It reads just fine as a standalone, but you should also consider checking out the other books in the series, You Complicate Me and You Wrecked Me, because they are equally fabulous.
The Risk by S.T. Abby
Why you should read it: Strangely enough, I read this one on the recommendation of Isabel Jordan, who knows I'm a fan of Criminal Minds and all things serial killer-y. Keep in mind, though, while I loved this one, it is DARK, my friends. Lots of trigger-y stuff. But none of the violence occurs between the hero and heroine. Their relationship is strangely healthy...considering the heroine is a serial killer and the hero is an FBI profiler. (And don't let the weird cover fool you--this is a solid romantic psychological thriller.) You should also know it's more of a serial. You have to read to book 5 to get to the happily ever after. But each book in the series is short and action packed, so it's still a quick read. If you're in the mood for something dark and twisty, this one's for you.
From the Embers by Aly Martinez
Why you should read it: This book will use you up and wring you out like a wet dishrag...but in a good way. :)
Breaking Free by Pamela Clare
Why you should read it: I actually do plan to do a full review of this one, because it's THAT awesome. But in the meantime, just know that this book represents all the things I love about Pamela Clare reads: intricate, fast moving plots, deeply heartfelt emotional scenes, the sexiest of sexy times, and characters that make you wish you knew them in real life. AND this book features some past characters from the author's I-Team series, which is an all-time favorite of mine. In fact, that's the series I judge all romantic suspense by. So, read this book, but also read the entire I-Team series. You can thank me later.
But what about you? Read anything great lately? Let's hear about it in the comments!
