First of all, this reads as a standalone, so if you haven’t read book 1 in the series, Man Hands, don’t feel like you can’t just dive right into Man Card. You won’t have any trouble at all following along and enjoying the story. (Although you should totally read Man Card, too. It’s equally squee-worthy.)
Second of all, Braht is totally not the type of hero I’m usually into. He’s manicured and manscaped and not at all grumpy. (I can’t help it. I find the grumpy ones hot. It’s a problem. I’m seeking help.) He’s for sure not your typical alpha dude. But that doesn’t stop him from being the most hilarious, adorable, sexy manscaped man to ever pose for a joke boudoir photo. (Yeah, that happened. It was crazy in the best possible kind of way.) I ADORED his overconfidence, his competitive streak, and the way he didn’t hesitate to stand up for Ash when she needed it the most. He’s not the book boyfriend I was looking for, but I’m soooooo glad I found him. Ash is an all-kinds-of-awesome heroine, too. She’s fiery and smart and gives as good as she gets. She’s the perfect match for Braht, and she’s kind of a badass, too. Ash is the type of heroine all other romantic comedy heroines should aspire to be. And this book was FUNNY y’all. Like, laugh-out-loud-so-many-times-I-scared-my-dogs HILARIOUS. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read books that were being marketed as romantic comedies that weren’t AT ALL funny. This one truly delivered the goods. (The “goods” being damn-near-pee-your-pants-’cause-you’re-laughing-so-hard hilarity.) So, long-story-short...what else can I say? I loved it. Just go 1-click! You’ll thank me later. Does this book contribute to or help crush the romance stigma? Stomps the crap out of it. No rehab needed! In fact, this one could run a support group for all the crappy romantic comedies out there. Other reading suggestions Read everything Sarina Bowen has ever written. Don’t stop until you’re out of books. And honestly, up until this point, Tanya Eby was a new-to-me author. But based on this, I think you should check out her backlist, too. That’s what I’m gonna do.
