Paranormal/ Fantasy/Monster Romance Publication date: 11/18/2022 Kindle Unlimited: Yes Cliffhanger: No I didn't know I needed a hot Frankenstein's monster in my life until I read this book, y'all. Now I know... Plot overview: Lucy meets Viktor, a hot reanimated dead guy, at a Monster Match speed dating event, and he proposes a marriage of convenience. I've read quit a bit of monster romance lately, and I've enjoyed it. I've read about demons, moth men, minotaurs, dragons, vampires, barbarians, headless horsemen, apocalypse horsemen, and more. But one thing I'd never read about was a hot Frankenstein's monster getting his happily ever after. Until now. I guess technically this could be considered a gothic romance since we are talking about a Frankenstein's monster who lives in an old Victorian mansion. But the content of the book and the couple's romance is so freakin' sweet that I have trouble classifying it as gothic romance. It's more of a lightly gothic contemporary fantasy romance, I think. The hero, Viktor, is my favorite kind of romance novel hero EVER. He's hot, tormented, and protective--all while being caring, communicative, and highly attuned to the heroine's needs/wants/desires. He's a cinnamon roll hero in an alpha male hero's body, and I adore him. Lucy is an awesome heroine, too. She's smart, funny, snarky, and most of all, not afraid to take help when offered. Never does she turn down help to her own detriment. I hate it when romance heroines do that! Like, if the hot man is offering you a place to stay and to fix all your problems and doesn't expect much of anything in return, don't say no out of nothing but stubborn pride! While I wouldn't necessarily call this a rom com, there were PLENTY of hilarious scenes. There's one towards the end of the book that involves rescue does that had me snort-laughing. The sexy scenes are pretty great, too. Not over the top, but definitely hot enough to get my attention. Ahem. So, all in all, if you're a fan of cinnamon roll heroes who LOOK like alpha male heroes, snarky heroines who aren't afraid to go after what (and who they want), and reads with plenty of heat and hilarity, then you'll want to give this book a try. ASAP. :) Does this book contribute to or help crush the romance stigma? No rehab needed. This one is clean and sober.
