Whitney G is one of those magic authors who can make me like stuff I’d otherwise hate. For example, the hero in this book, Michael, is a complete asshole and a manwhore—two things I usually have ZERO tolerance for in a romance hero. But somehow, by the end of the book, I find myself liking him. See what I mean? Magic.

So, if you’re going to enjoy this one, there are a few things you’ll need to accept:
  1. Yes, Michael is a complete jerk with very few redeeming qualities (other than his appearance) in the beginning of the book.
  2. This is a novella, so the character development is a little less than it is in the author’s usual full-length books. It’s there—just abbreviated. It’s pretty much exactly what I expect from a novella, but thought I should point it out just in case.
  3. Yes, the things that Michael says to Mya would—and should—get him sued for sexual harassment, and yes, the things Mya accidentally emails to him should’ve gotten her fired. If you can’t suspend your disbelief on that kind of stuff, you’ll want to skip this one.

But, all that said, while Michael doesn't show his affection in traditional ways, if you’re able to overlook what I’ve outlined above, you’ll discover that he really does know and respect Mya. His actions make that 100% clear, even though his words absolutely do NOT.

Long-story-short, if you liked Two Weeks Notice (the Whitney G book, not the movie with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant), you’ll like Naughty Boss. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because Michael, quite frankly, reminded me a little too much of Preston from Two Weeks Notice. I still think this one’s worth a read, though. Overall it was pretty hilarious and sexy.

Does this book contribute to or help crush the romance stigma?
No rehab needed. This one’s clean and sober.
