Sweet fancy Moses, I am on a bad book streak, folks. It’s getting to be like the setup for a terrifying horror movie. I mean, what if I NEVER AGAIN find a book I love?? AAAAGGGHHHH! But I digress...didn’t mean to spiral on y’all… (*clears throat*)

So, about this book...there are a few issues that made me DNF at 21%. Here we go:

• Why is it that so many books told from the male POV feel the need to point out just how manly and virile and alpha the hero is in EVERY OTHER FREAKIN’ sentence? I get it. Dean’s hot and can have any woman he wants (and often does). I don’t need to be reminded of it so often. After a while it becomes a bit of “the lady doth protest too much”,  if you get my drift.​

• No matter how hot and manly and virile Dean is, he’s a douche. A self-centered, self-aggrandizing, arrogant AF douche. And probably a syphilis-ridden douche, based on the sheer number of chicks he’s banging/has banged. (One of which he calls “Red” because he can’t even remember her name after multiple bangs) Why are so many heroes like this in romance? Why can’t I read a book written from the POV of a nice, normal, non-whorey dude? I’m sure they’re out there. I’m so sick of the manwhores.

• Cori seems like a great girl. No idea why she’d be best friends with a syphilis-ridden douche like Dean. Doesn’t the fact that he treats other women so abominably bother her at all? Apparently not.
• Dean’s 30, hasn’t had a traumatic past, doesn’t have any terrible diseases (other than the—admittedly alleged—syphilis) that he could pass on to a child. So, why wouldn’t he ever see himself settling down, getting married, and starting a family? Seems super weird to me.  
• Coriander? Really? Even for a hippie, artsy-fartsy gal that’s a little weird.  

And so, I persevere, looking for a read that won’t make me rant and rage...
