This one was recommended to me by one of my Facebook crew, and I have to say, I owe her a big thank you. (I won’t call you out, but you know who you are, and...thanks!!) I’m super suspicious of new-to-me authors because I’ve been burned so many times, so without her recommendation, I’m not sure I would’ve given this one a try.

There’s LOTS to like here, folks:

1. It’s a standalone. It features characters that showed up in other books by the author, but if you haven’t read any of those (like I haven’t), you can read this one and not feel like you’re missing out.
2. It’s a brother’s-best-friend romance, if you’re into that kind of thing (which I am, thank you very much)
3. There’s plenty of witty banter in this one, and y’all know how much I love witty banter  
4. This is a funny, light-hearted rom com/contemporary romance. Nothing too angsty, nothing that will trigger you or cause a horrible book hangover that leaves you unable to pick up another book for weeks.
5. Connor’s cocky and bordering on arrogant, but at heart he’s a true nice-guy hero, and I can’t get enough of nice-guy heroes.
6. I like that Lucy is a baker and a blogger. You don’t see too many romances about bloggers. (And why not, authors? We’re fabulous! But I digress…)

Now, I will be honest and let you know that I did NOT approve of what happened between Connor and Lucy towards the end of the book. I won’t spoil anything, but they both pretty much acted like children. If they’d just used their words and had a grown-up conversation, they could’ve easily worked everything out without all the drama.

But, minor quibble notwithstanding, this was a fun read and I’ll most likely check out the author’s backlist and new releases.
