Anyone who says that all romance novels are the same hasn't read THESE: Caped and Dangerous by Isabel JordanFemale, GenX, grumpy superhero who would rather stay home and watch Supernatural than fight crime falls for the villain who is ten years younger than her? Witty banter for days? Spicy times? Yep. This one has it all. Morning Glory Milking Farm by CM NascostaJust...read my review. It's everything you've heard it was and more. Trust me. Jack's Head by Siggy ShadeHeadless Horseman romance that is super, super, SUPER spicy. When I started this one, I assumed it was erotica. It is definitely erotic. But it's much more than that. For a novella, it has a surprisingly sweet romance and a satisfying happily ever after. Just remember that I said super, super, SUPER spicy, m'kay? Trust me, though. It's worth a read. The Earl Takes All by Lorraine HeathLorraine Heath is a MASTER of emotional, high stakes historical romance, but she really made things interesting with this book. When one brother is killed (by a GORILLA!!!), his twin takes his place so as not to upset the dead brother's wife, who is pregnant and has had a miscarriage before. Romance haters, try telling me you've heard about THAT plot before. Go ahead. I'll wait. That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a WerewolfThere's not enough fun, light-hearted fantasy romance out there. We NEED more books like this one. Wild North by JB SalsburyI can usually see plot twists coming a mile away, but halfway through this book, I was shocked. I mean, I thought I was reading about one type of hero, and suddenly, he was not AT ALL what I was expecting. I can't say more without giving too much away, but...yeah. Read it. Skin Deep by Pamela ClareThis one is here for all the romance-hating idiots out there who say that all romance heroes are physically perfect, alpha, bodice-ripping a-holes. Nate fought for his country and will wear the scars from that time for the rest of his life, so he could've let his experiences turn him into a jerkwad and no one would fault him for it. But Nate, to this day, is one of the kindest, most patient, loving, loyal, sweet and sexy romance heroes I've ever read. Meghan hit the jackpot with this guy (and she deserved him because she was pretty awesome, too). Last Light by Claire KentPost-apocalypse romance that's actually pretty cozy and sweet? Yep. This is it. Those are just a few of my picks. What are yours? Let's discuss!

Wild North has definitely piqued my interest and I love that you've given me some unique options to choose from. I get really fed-up with your cliche "bodice-ripping" romance when there are so many other well-written and interesting reads out there. My recommendation to you is "Awake" by Lisa Battalia - it is book 1 of her Midlife Romance Series (https://www.lisabattalia.com/). This is a second chance at love, erotic read that is realistic, steamy, empowering and truly a romance for real women. I thought it was a unique read worthy of this list because it's a romance story that wasn't all about 20-somethings. This story is clearly written for women in the “messy” middle of life. The main character Lori is left by her husband of 20 years after dedicating her life to him and giving up on her own dreams to be the perfect wife and mother.
