Well, I said it when I reviewed and hated the last book in this series and I meant it: Terri Osburn is a great author. After reading this one, I’m chalking that last atrocity up to a fluke, or to an invasion of the author snatchers—I don’t really care which.   

The writing is stellar (as always). The dialogue is snappy. Characters this time around are supremely likeable (after an initial bout of asshattery on the hero's part). Noah’s struggle with PTSD felt real, and Carrie’s struggles as a single mom also seemed super realistic. And while my least favorite Osburn character in existence (*cough*Haleigh*cough*) made an appearance, she didn’t screw anything up too badly.

So why not a 5-star review? Noah and Carrie’s attraction happened a little too fast to be realistic, in my opinion, especially after Noah made what I would consider to be a...lackluster first impression on Carrie. He made up for it with his extreme cuteness with Carrie’s daughter, but I think Carrie should’ve made him grovel a bit longer.

But all in all, the book has restored my faith in the series and I’ll be reading the next book as soon as it’s available.
