Romance novels with plot elements so bonkers they shouldn't work, but totally do

I went looking for romance novels that had totally banana-pants crazy plot elements (you know, for escapism from reality), and the interwebs did not let me down. Here's what I found:

The Dragon's Bride by Katee Robert

Briar Rose makes a deal with a demon to escape her abusive husband and ends up in a bride auction, sold to Sol, a dragon man. He's actually pretty sweet, and lots of steamy fun ensues.    

​The Earl Takes All by Lorriane Heath 

When one brother is killed (by a GORILLA!!!), his twin takes his place so as not to upset the dead brother's wife, who is pregnant and has had a miscarriage before. Just trust me...it's so wonderful. *heart eyes*

Wriggle & Sparkle by Megan Derr

A kraken shifter/unicorn romance. It's as wild as it sounds.   

Alien Quarantine Rescue by Robin Lovett

Just...read the blurb. Yeah. Read the blurb. You won't be disappointed. 

A Lady's Code of Misconduct by Meredith Duran

She faked a marriage to an evil guy on his deathbed, but he lived and got amnesia, then she had to pretend to be his real wife.

Full disclosure: I haven't read this one yet--and I stress YET. Because...wait for it...it's a potato shifter romance. *choir of angels singing* I'll keep y'all posted. :)
