OK, y’all, I am on an epically bad book streak. I’ve failed to finish so many books lately that I’m starting to get a complex about it. (Is it me? Are these books really good and I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t love them? What’s wrong with me that I hate these books that everyone else seems to love? What if I never read another great book again? GAH!!!) So, here I am, humbly asking all you romance readers out there to help me out. What are YOU reading and loving right now? Here’s what I’m hoping you’ll have for me: Romantic comedy that’s ACTUALLY FUNNY I’ve seen a bunch of books lately in the romantic comedy section at Amazon that aren’t actually romantic comedies. I don’t know if this is because authors/publishers are misclassifying their books in the hopes of getting more sales, or if Amazon is misclassifying the books for some reason (who knows, right? The ‘Zon is vast and mysterious and unknowable), but I’m sick of getting duped into thinking I’m downloading a hilarious romantic comedy and ending up with a lame romantic suspense or something. I want something funny, darn it! (*stomps foot*) By the way, if you're dying for a good laugh, you should definitely check our list of 14 laugh-out-loud contemporary romances. New paranormal romance that hasn’t been done to death I recently read a paranormal romance that was really well-written, but I couldn’t finish it because it gave me an overwhelming sense of “been there, done that.” And just so you know, recommending something new to me in paranormal won’t be an easy task. I’ve read just about everything there is. But I remain super hopeful that y’all can help me out! New adult romance with no stupid misunderstandings and crappy communication between characters This is a tough one, I know. There are a ton of new adult romances out there featuring stupid kids making stupid mistakes and then refusing to talk to each other about it. But if you’ve got recommendations for new adult reads with smart characters acting like real-life young adults, I’d LOVE to hear them. Anything but THIS If you’re reading something you hate, feel free to tell me about that, too. Sometimes knowing what NOT to read is just as important as knowing what’s good to read. No, I’m not looking for YOUR book Authors, I love you. I really do. But if you use this post to pop in and tell me how I should read your book, I’ll ignore you. Why? That’s smarmy and spammy. Now, I’m not saying I won’t read your book. If you want me to read your book, check out our review guidelines and please (for the love of all that’s holy) follow them. So, hit with those recs! I need all the help I can get! (And a huge thank you in advance!)
